A friend of mine recently asked me what was one of my favorite things I
once owned and then sold. I said there are two things I owned and
regrettably sold, a Kiton
shirt and a Cartier briefcase. I will never forget, I was thrifting
with my old friend Nathan, when I found a Kiton shirt. I was so
excited I couldn’t speak to Nathan, I kept saying “this is big, really
big, huge, really huge…” I couldn’t speak. Ciro Paone was born in
Naples to a family that dealt in fabrics for five generations. Kiton
brand was born in 1968 and the name comes out from “chitone”, the
ceremonial tunic the ancient Greek used to wear when praying on the
Olympus. The retail price for my shirt was $450.00. The other was my
lovely Cartier
briefcase with it’s gorgeous burgundy leather, in pristine condition.
Talk about almost falling out when I saw that label. I had Cartier in
my hands for a brief moment in time, just like the Kiton shirt. At the
time in my life I needed some c$sh so I decided to pop them on ebay.
Looking back at that now, I’ve spent the money I made and said goodbye
to two fabulous finds. I would like to think that I will see them both
again when I’m out thrifting, hopefully sooner rather than later. Please don’t forget to check out my Thrifters Boutique, not for these items but for others, it’s located at top right hand side. Toodles for now. Daniel
