Phillips - Van Heusen corporation has purchased Tommy Hilfiger for approximately $3 Billion dollars! However, the problem here is whether Tommy Hilfiger will lose its
sizable share in the upper-middle class consumer base while owned by
PVH. When a large parent company operates a bunch of smaller companies
it is highly probably that it' subsidiaries like, Tommy Hilfiger, will
lose its appeal. This is because, PVH will streamline Tommy's multiple
lines and sell fewer products. On the other hand, some brands have
actually done better once operated by PVH. For example ever since PVH
introduced Calvin Klein's Mens Sportswear in 2005,
the brand has done a lot better. Subsequently, as long as PVH and Tommy
Hilfiger work together to reinvent the brand it may succeed just like
Calvin Klein has.
