Oily skin isn’t rare but is a very unpleasant problem. Greasy shine and enlarged pores are extremely difficult to mask. In the absence of proper care, the biggest problem is acne. But don’t despair! If you are the owner of oily skin, we will tell you one secret. Oily skin can be a real gift of fate with proper care!

Types of oily skin

Oily seborrheic skin is divided into two main types and one combination. They differ in the composition of the skin sebum.

  • Liquid seborrhea. Unsaturated fatty acids predominate in sebum. The skin is greasy and shiny, like a buttered pancake. The pores are large but shallow and empty. Fat flows freely from the pores without clogging them.
  • Dense seborrhea. Saturated fatty acids predominate in sebum. They tightly clog pores, creating plugs, black dots, and acne. Blackheads and inflammations often appear on such skin. It is usually thick, rough, and matte.
  • Mixed seborrhea. Some "lucky ones" have mixed seborrhea. Their faces look like greasy pancakes with black dots, subcutaneous tissues, and inflammation.

Advantages of oily skin

Oily skin is denser and firmer than dry and normal skin, which means it has several advantages:

Protection

The skin is the largest protective organ thanks to the millions of beneficial microbes on it. Sebum is the best medium for the reproduction of these bacteria. Sebum also contains a large amount of vitamin E. It is a natural antioxidant that prevents various diseases. An important factor is that oily skin enhances the effect of SPF, which means that it is less prone to photoaging than dry skin.

Radiance

An unaesthetic oily sheen turns into a natural radiance of the skin with proper care. It is better to use a gentle foam, washing gel, or a cleansing toner for oily skin for daily care. But soap is strictly forbidden!

Forever young

Unfortunately, the skin youth can’t remain forever, but wrinkles begin to appear at a fairly early age in some girls. Fortunately, if you are the owner of oily skin, it doesn’t threaten you. Skin fat protects against harmful environmental factors, so the skin stays young and beautiful longer.

Natural Moisturizing

The sebaceous glands secrete fat, which forms powerful protection against sweat. It also helps the skin lose less moisture.

Less prone to inflammation

You might be surprised because oily skin is associated with acne and a rash. But with proper care, inflammation can be forgotten. You simply shouldn’t overdo it with washing and scrubs. Natural cosmetics for oily skin will help to balance the pH. It also can clean the skin from inflammation and redness, which will greatly improve the appearance.

How to choose cosmetics for oily skin?

If you want that oily skin to become your advantage, you need to use only high-quality cosmetics. First of all, it is necessary to “make demands” on cosmetics for facial skin care.

This means that cosmetics should:

  • normalize the sebaceous glands,
  • narrow enlarged pores
  • effectively clean dead cells
  • possess disinfectant and anti-inflammatory properties (for skin prone to inflammation)
  • fully nourish and moisturize the skin
  • protect from the negative effects of the environment

Face tonics shouldn’t contain alcohol! It dries the skin and upset the Ph balance, which contributes to more active production of sebum. Abuse of cleansing masks and scrubs also dry out the skin. It can become rough and begin to peel off (oily seborrhea). Follow the instructions of the cosmetic product on the package or in the package insert.

It would be better to choose only hypoallergenic cosmetics for makeup. Natural cosmetics based on minerals is best suited for oily skin. It hides the most flaws, and the composition of such cosmetics helps to fight redness and inflammation.
