The Cabinet of Ministers decided to amend the Traffic Regulations. Some of them oblige pedestrians to wear reflective elements in the evening and at night. Also, this rule applies to those situations when there is poor visibility on the roads. Note that earlier this rule was only a recommendation.
Pedestrians will now have to wear reflective inserts on their clothing while driving on the roadway and the side of the road. These can be stickers, reflective tapes, vests, or other things with such elements so that the driver can notice the pedestrian at a greater distance.

According to Today.ua, the fine for non-compliance with the rule will be 510 hryvnias. Or pedestrians can be warned.

The authorities took this decision to protect not only pedestrians but also other road users. It is known that reflective elements help to reduce mortality by six to eight times, therefore, thanks to these inserts on clothes, the driver can see a person at a distance of 130 meters.
According to experts, this rule will simply shift the responsibility for road killings from drivers to their victims. For example, in Poland, the number of accidents decreased after the construction of safe pedestrian crossings.
Recall that the Cabinet of Ministers also made a change in the traffic rules, which allows cyclists to ride on the lane of public transport. Taxi drivers and passengers will now also have to wear seat belts.
