How to Use Makeup on Dark Skin?

While many women have been blessed with a dark skin tone, the perception of beauty standards has changed and evolved to accommodate all varieties of complexions and features. The peaches and cream complexion is no longer the criterion for judging beauty and manufacturers of top cosmetic products have long come to realize the needs to cater to a wide section of makeup for men and women of different skin tones, including products of makeup for dark skin. Beauty Products and Makeup for Dark Skin While an even skin tone is the best feature to start a cosmetic makeover with, those with a dark skin are usually skeptical of trying to break through the color schemes usually marketed at for fairer skinned persons. However, a bit of ingenuity and color-mixing know-how can change that into experimental beauty and mesmerising makeup for dark skin, be it natural or intentionally sun-tanned. ■The greatest advantage of makeup application for dark skin is that it is less prone to pimples, blackheads, spots and shadows/pigmentation that a fair complexion may be in danger of. This makes it easier to achieve a healthy glow to the complexion for dark skinned people, most of whom have an even-toned skin that is an easy and ready base for foundation blending. ■A liquid foundation is the best base makeup for dark skin; however, since dark skin has a tendency to shine, it is prudent to pick a shade of foundation that is darker than the skin. Furthermore, lighter shades are unsuitable as they can end up making the face look patchy and result in poor photographic quality, if the occasion calls for snapshots. ■It makes cosmetic common sense to hunt for the correct shade of foundation since it is the base of all makeup to follow. A good way to blend it into the skin is by adding a little distilled water to the foundation and rubbing the lotion well so as to absorb it in skin, otherwise the foundation will appear in waves on the face after a while. ■A very light dusting of powder/bronzer is recommended as it can detract from the smooth glow of the foundation crème. ■Almond brown or copper tinged mascara/moistened eye shadow works well with most dark skin persons and a hint of a metallic shade at the end of the eyelashes adds to the glamorous touch for an evening out. ■Lipstick choices are entirely dependent on the occasion and the way you feel, rather than the conventional shades aggressively advertised for dark skin. Stray from the regular shades like deep pink, mauve, plum and try a peach with gold highlights in the center of the lips; even a full-on wine-red dotted with gloss and glitter is a great bet!.
