If you wish to experiment with colours and form, the workplace is not the place to do so, unless you’re working for a fashion company, brightly-coloured briefcases are usually frowned upon.

Vintage briefcases are a great option if you wish to buy that one briefcase that will last you years, as such briefcases get more beautiful with age. Vintage briefcases can also be more expensive, look for bags on sale and you may just end up with a high-end find.

2. CHECK IF STURDY

A briefcase is meant to keep your work kit secure. It should have disciplined volume. Floppy briefcases are a hassle to carry around. Also, it’s important to use the briefcase for its main purpose and not cram other items besides your work kit.

3. MAKE SURE IT PROTECTS

You don’t want to end up with coffee stains on important paperwork. A good briefcase for men will ensure your belongings stay protected. Your laptop and other tech belongings need bump proof protection. Classified papers need a separate case within the briefcase so that they don’t get scruffy.

Nylon is a great option for messengers and tents but when it comes to briefcases, they are not a viable option. If you have to purchase one, buy it in high-end ballistic if you’re really drawn to it. Canvas, leather, aluminium or even carbon are still more classic and preferred options. But stay away from the nylon ones.

3. OVER-ENGINEERED BRIEFCASES

Some briefcases possess more pockets than required. More the number of pockets the more confused you’ll be. It’s easy to lose track of what went where and your briefcase will soon begin to resemble a utility bag.
