How to become a fashion designer

Why does everyone want to become a fashion designer? It is such a popular question, I actually developed a site a while back called How to become a fashion designer. In all honesty, the site is NOT very informative. It does give a bit of advice, but it is clearly not my best effort. Hopefully in the future, I will add more detail to that site. Anyway, if you want to become a fashion designer, I suggest you first attend a fashion school. It is not a requirement, but certainly a good idea.

many times, people don't realise that fashion is work. hard work.
there are misconceptions of the reality.
they tend to see the 'air brushed' glamour side of it.
which is all fine and nice, but not representive of what the industry really is...
it's all about 'sales'
a fashion designer should honestly say, *(when asked what they do) i sell clothes.

most designers are not business oriented.
every good or great designer, had/has right next to them, someone who was/is brilliant at finances.

i think a true designer is one who finds beauty and learning in every level of fashion.
garment construction, zippers, buttons, threads..etc.

some dream fashion design. i mean dream literally.
i do.
i keep a pad and pencil next to my bed..and in the morning, something is there.

ideas come from semmingly everywhere and nowhere.

inspiration can be any texture, image, colour.

anyone can 'learn' the technical aspects of design, but that creative impulse has got to be there to start.

learning about fashion can be the beginning..
but in order to sustain it, one has to really live it every single day.

i couldn't begin to figure out costing and all those financial aspects.
but i could tell you about design, colour, material choice and sketch it all out.
