Every era brings new fashion trends, and different views of beauty. After Marilyn was a style icon with her luscious hips and curves, came bony Twiggy that made all little girls give up chocolate and burgers. I am not sure if we can say that since those sixties much has changed when it comes to body figure, but these years, the pressure is put on girl’s face to look just perfect. And what is perfect these days? High cheekbones, small perky nose, and big sexy lips.

Of course everything can be perfected with plastic surgery, but to avoid such drastic measures, you only need Jane Iredale makeup and a few necessary products in your makeup kit. Here I have a couple of things that have to be on your must-own list, and a step by step instructions on how to contour your face in order to emphasize its best features.

What You Need

When it comes to contouring your face, the most important things are foundation and a good blending brush. Despite what you thought so far, it is not enough just to have one shade of powder and a blush, but you need at least three different foundations:

1. One that is the same color of your skin,

2. One that is a bit lighter, and

3. One a few tones darker than your natural skin tone.

How to Contour Your Face

Before you start, first thing you need to do is pull your hair back, so that it does not get in your way, and also to be able to reach every corner of your face. You will also have to clean your face thoroughly before putting on makeup – wash it, pat with a towel and when it is completely dry, apply moisturizer. After it soaks, you can start putting on makeup.

Step 1. First use foundation that matches your skin tone, but be sure to apply it only in thin layer – you do not want to look like you are wearing a face mask when you are finished. Put it on your whole face, from the top of your forehead to the bottom of your chin, but also on your neck so that the color blends.

Step 2. Now take a foundation that is a few shades lighter than your skin tone and place it to a couple of spots on your face to highlight them. Parts of your face that you will want to stand out are the center of your forehead, top of your brow lines, bridge of your nose and the center of your chin. You will also want to apply lighter foundation to the apples of your cheeks and on your cupid’s bow.

Step 3. Finally, use darker foundation, but be careful not to get the one that is more than two tones darker than your natural one. Apply it right under your hairline, on sides and the top of your forehead, on the areas left and right of your nose, and along the jaw line. To finish up the look, put a bit of dark foundation in the hollows of your cheeks, to make your cheekbones stand out.

Of course, before you leave home, check yourself out in the mirror to make sure that everything is well-blended, and that there are no sharp divisions. All you need now is a perfect shade of lipstick to make your lips pop, and you are ready to concur the world.
