How the stars handled the 38 degrees ARIAs red carpet

At 38 degrees on the ARIAs red carpet on Thursday, it seems the temperature was just too hot for British singer Ed Sheeran.

The 24-year-old crooner only stopped to chat to Network Ten's The Project and was then swiftly marched through to the picture wall by his burly entourage, despite media waiting in the sweltering Sydney heat for hours.

Kylie Minogue also took a leaf out of Ed's book and she too was hustled by gathered journalists, despite her people previously promising that she would stop to promote her new Christmas album. The pint-sized The Loco-Motion starlet didn't bother with a wave as she scuttled past in a cream lace frock, but she later stopped for selfies with thrilled fans.

"OMG Sydney is even more than 100 degrees tonight!" she later wrote on social media, which might help to explain why she decided to head straight in.

Amid her recent Melbourne Cup shoe debacle, Jessica Mauboy was another who decided to side-step any questions about whether she will be avoiding all things Myer to only shop in David Jones from now on. But the 26-year-old Darwin-born singer was more than pleased to pose for picture-upon-picture in her grey Ellery suit that strategically helped cover her heels.

Meanwhile, Tina Arena was more than pleased to open up ahead of being inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame by her good friend, Kylie. Dressed to kill in a fitted black Dolce and Gabbana dress with a red rose motif and blinged up with Canturi jewelry, there was no doubt about who the woman of the night was.

Ahead of the honour, she had a surprising admission for Fairfax Media when asked how she was feeling about the night ahead.

"I'm glad I am older," she said, before continuing: "I think you can just take it for what it is. You can appreciate it and put it in proper perspective."

When asked for examples, she added: "The time, the distance, the experiences, changing, growing up, being a mum, prioritising things… I think being older is lovely, I really appreciate it."

The 48-year-old Melbourne star is looking forward to the after-soirees, despite not usually being the partying type.

"I don't normally [go], but I am going to have a champagne tonight," she said.

When asked by Fairfax Media: "Just the one?"

She replied: "Oh no, it will probably be more than one sweetie, but I am not counting. I just make sure that it is nice champagne, so I don't have to nurse a tragic hangover tomorrow."

The Bachelor Sam Wood showed off the fruits of his gym labour in a suave black Calibre suit worn with black rimmed Ray Ban aviators for ultimate swag appeal. He walked the red carpet without his significant other, Snezana Markoski, as her nine-year-old daughter, Eve, had her school concert in Perth on the same night.

When asked how everything was going in his new relationship he said it "couldn't be better" and opened up about how the trio are currently organising a family trip to Tasmania "in the next couple of weeks."

For Christmas, the modern family will mix things up, spending it on both the west and east coasts of Australia.

"We'll have a bit of Melbourne time and a bit of Perth time as well," he explained.

Guy Sebastian seemed to have forgotten to check the weather conditions for the music night of nights, opting for a grey three-piece suit.

"I think it was the worst attire I could have worn. I'm looking at Ed Sheeran right now and he is wearing just a shirt and I wish I had done the same thing," the X Factor judge laughed.

But despite the soaring temperatures, he still managed to win some brownie points with his glamorous, fashion stylist wife.

"I've got matching socks with Jules' green dress," he said proudly, pulling up one leg of his pants to prove it.

Australian country music star, Catherine Britt, who is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer, said wearing her fake eyelashes helped her "feel normal for a day, which is great."

The 30-year-old from Newcastle stunned in a cream bridal-esque off-the-shoulder piece from local designer, Melanie Ford.

"She also just designed my wedding dress. I just got married recently and she was so pumped by the day, she said: 'Can I design your ARIAs dress?'"

Catherine has six more rounds of chemotherapy and four weeks of radiation left and she cannot wait to put the Big C finally behind her.

"I'm having a massive cancer-free party after," she gushed.
