Haute Mess: Haute House Ware

Hey Haute People,
This week I wanted to change gears a little bit and talk a little about how to keep a HAUTE HOME on a budget. Now in my years so far as a college student and as a HAUTE MESS J I’ve come across some tips that I wanted to share with you guys and they can be useful to a college student living in dorms, haute professionals on a budget or just by anyone looking to spice up a space or add a little sparkle to a new room, apartment or living space and remember people "A HAUTE HOME IS A HAPPY HOME"…let’s get started:
The first tip I wanted to share is about painting and how to add interest to a bland wall
Now, everyone paints their walls at some time or another so why not take it a step further and use painters tape to add an interesting design or pattern to a bedroom wall or as a living room highlight
Here's How:
A.      Choose two paint colors that complement each other. You may want to try getting a nude or more subdued color like a white or charcoal gray and a statement color like a purple, rich red or a brilliant blue.
B.      Apply your base color in as many coats as needed and it’s probably best to get a brand that has a built in primer. You can pick them up at your local paint supply shop like Rapid True-Value or your local Sherwin-Williams
C.      The next step is to apply painter’s tape to mark out the design or pattern that you want after the base paint has dried and then apply your second color to it. Again be sure to let your paint dry completely
D.      To complete simply remove the tape and your pattern is ready to be enjoyed by you and everyone who sees it………

HAUTE TIP- IF YOU HAVE EXTRA PAINT LEFT OVER YOU CAN USE THIS IDEA ON PAINT CANVASES, AND TO DO OTHER PROJECTS. ITS VERSATILE IT’S INEXPENSIVE AND IT’S COMPLETELY HAUTE!!!!!

The Second tip I wanted to share is a little more specific and involves a single piece of furniture that being the mattress. Now I know that mattresses are cheap by themselves but what I’ve recently found is that most of the expense comes when you  factor in a base board/head board or frame . So I said to myself why not just take the mattress, leave the frame and put the thing on the floor and it turns out that frame-less beds are actually all the rave right now from designer bedding to those living on a budget or with limited space FRAME LESS IS THE WAY TO GO. And to keep you guys HAUTE and in the know .
HERE ARE SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER

1. You may want to start off with a rug around the area that you’re planning on placing the mattress- To keep it clean and the area comfortable
2. Consider the decor of the space- The best thing to do is to keep everything low to the ground in terms of furnishings so that everything works well and blends together
3. Use large pillows as a back drop for this bed as well as simple blankets/sheets to keep everything HAUTE and classy but stylish at the same time
4. This look works if you have maybe a loft that doesn’t have a ton of headroom or if your strapped for cash and just want to ditch the frame
So there you go HAUTE PEOPLE just a few simple and inexpensive tips to keep the living space looking HAUTE CLASSY and also keeping some of that HAUTE money in your pocket
UNTIL NEXT TIME
