Get The Royal Look With a Bandhgala Suit

The Bandhgala is a type of jacket that features an erect and closed collar. It can either have long sleeves or also be sleeveless. It is basically a royal costume and today a must-have in the wardrobe of every urban man. The Bandhgala has literally changed the way today’s men dress by constantly re-introducing them the culture. It is a cross over between a suit and the Angarakha and Achakans. It is snug around the chest area and looks best in black or charcoal shades.

Bandhgala fit that matters

The cut and fit are the two fundamental aspects of any men’s wear. Just like a suit piece a Bandhgala is also all about the right fit. For the right fit, you can opt for a tailored design. Though initially popularized by the Indian royalty and political leaders like Late Jawaharlal Nehru, this ethnic wear for men continues to be  prominent wear even today. When you plan to experiment with the Bandhgala, make sure you explore different textiles and fittings options available. The ideal length of Bandhgalas is usually dictated by your body type. But as a general rule, the length should end just at the root of the thumb when your arms rest against your body. Putting on a too long or too short jacket even if it is well-cut will spoil your entire look.

You can never go wrong with a Bandhgala suit, unless, your button it all the way to the top. This garment is slimming, elegant, very Indian and yet gives you an international appeal.

  • Traditional Bandhgala Jacket- The traditional version is designed for weddings parties. Through the traditional style of wearing Bandhgalas is to button it up but the Rathores prefer to keep the first two buttons open. This has turned out to be the standard way most wearers prefer to wear, especially when paired with scarves and cravats this style is known to work wonders. In case of traditional styles, stick to dark shades like black and add that splash of colour by putting on accessories like pocket squares and cuff links. But make sure the accessories are truly co-ordinated with the colour of your jacket. Wearing cufflinks is entirely an individual choice and also depends on the type of occasion you are attending.

  • Formal Bandhgala Jacket- A formal Bandhgala jacket works ideal on any sober evenings. For these formal occasions try wearing one with an embroidered collar.

  • Casual Bandhgala Jacket- If you are looking for a casual option, simply paira linen bandhgala with jeans. Remember the louder the colour, the attractive it will look. So, go for one shade like lime green, yellow or royal blue.
