Fun Halloween Costume Ideas

Adults need to think outside of the box when it comes to creative costume ideas at Halloween. For children, there are so many different costumes out there, that coming up with something cute and fun is always easy and turns out darling every time. Yet, with the majority of those dressing up on Halloween being adults, believe it or not, good costume ideas can be surprisingly sparse. Adults who dress up for Halloween want to dress to impress while standing out from the crowd, so here are some fun ideas that might be worth implementing this year.

Board Game Characters and Pieces

Bringing back characters from old time board games always completes any Halloween party. All adults know of these fun games and many have played them before so they evoke a sense of nostalgia. Dressing up as characters from the popular game Cluedo is always a fun one. It may take people a while to figure out who you are, but once they do they will appreciate the effort you put into it – a bit like the game itself really!

If you’re heading out with a group, each one of you could choose a different Monopoly piece. Think of the fun you’ll have dressed as an aristocratic man complete with a monocle and a moustache, while you hang around with a terrier dog and a steam iron (that one may be hard to pull off!).

Party as a Politician

With Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton currently battling it out for control of America’s soul, there’s never been a better time to throw a party… a political party that is! Outside of Trump and Hilary, there are planet of ex-presidents to choose from. After all, it worked in Point Break!

If you want to go even more old school, you can’t beat the classics like General Washington and Honest Abe (after all, who doesn’t love a big beard and a classy top hat!).

Gender Swap

Another popular Halloween costume for adults is just going as someone of the opposite gender as it allows you to put a unique spin on a well-known face. This works especially well for couples. Imagine a fierce looking man-Beyonce accompanied by Lady Jay-Z or a girly Joker and manly Harley Quinn couple.

Movie Heroes

With there being virtually no end to the types of costumes you can wear at Halloween, why not go as your favourite movie hero or TV star? While most popular franchises have an official branded costume that can be purchased, they can often end up being quite expensive so you’re often better off shopping around or even building your own. Most costume shops sell bits and pieces that are marketed as ‘approximations’ of the branded stuff, and it is generally a lot cheaper than the official kit.

Whether you want to be a Marvel superhero or your favourite character from a quirky-looking Tim Burton movie, the possibilities for costumed fun are endless when you draw your inspiration from the big screen in the cinema and the small screen at home.
