Kids grow up quickly and perhaps, the clothes that you purchased for your little ones during the last summer may not be fit for them anymore. Thus, you might end up buying new clothes for them after every six months. Smart shopping is what you need. Here’re tips that can prove to be of much help.

Take measurements before you shop

This may sound weird, but it’s advisable for every parent to keep a cheap dressmaker’s tape handy. Before you create your shopping plan, you should take measurements of your kid if his/her height and weight are more than usual for the concerned age group. If you have measurements, you would be able to easily compare them with store’s size chart and select the best size option. No matter if you shop online or at the physical store, keeping measurements can help you save time.

Don’t end up buying something that your kids already have in their closets

At times, kids might just misplace their clothes in the large cupboard. So, before you make that shopping list, check the existing clothing and sort out all the items that are fit/wearable.

Kids suffering from “favorite pants or favorite shirt syndrome” often wear the same clothes again and again while keeping others untouched in their closet.

Make sure that your kid really needs new t-shirts, shirts, pants, etc. as there is no point in buying stuff that your kid already has in his/her closet.

Opt for a variety of colors, and avoid buying garments with colors that your kid already has. If your kid has black jeans, go for a blue one instead of again going for a black one. Buy garments that match the style of existing clothes at your house. If you kid has black jeans, you should consider buying t-shirts that can go with black jeans.

If something out of the closet is no longer fit, consider donating such garments to the nearby charity organizations that accept used clothes.

Avoid overbuying stuff

As mentioned earlier, kids grow quickly. Thus, the children clothes that you buy for them this month may not be fit for them after ten months. Plus, their choice of color may also change. So, it is advisable to not to buy too many clothes and shoes at once even if you feel tempted to do so due to stock and price factor.

Don’t remove the tags hurriedly

Usually, most of the garments sellers do allow customers to return the garments until their tags are safe and the clothes are not damaged. So, once you come back home from shopping, or once online sellers deliver your garments, ask your kid(s) to wear them for few minutes to check that they feel comfortable in the same. If not, you can return the garments in their shopping bag and apply for a refund. Always review the returns policy of the physical/online store to keep you updated about their terms for the same instead of feeling sorry later for not checking the same.
