The way we dress is to signify more than just style, but class as well. Other people draw judgments based on what we wear to events, and determine our personalities just by how we dress.

Much like paintings, sculptures, and other fine art, dressing is an art form itself. The occasion of the event determines the kinds of dresses we wear to fit the atmosphere of the event. Here is what you should wear to the following events you may have coming up, to help you narrow down your search for a new dress:

Weddings

Weddings are black tie or white tie events, and formal wear is highly recommended, unless it is a wedding that has a peculiar gimmick to it. Ladies should wear a long gown for weddings, either floor length or knee length. White dresses are reserved for the bride, so for almost every wedding, any color is acceptable as long as it isn't the same color the bride has.

Cocktail parties

A cocktail party is a semi formal event that is labeled to be "more fun" and "more sociable" than your typical formal event. Ladies that love to talk to other people, drink, and dance will be shown to a selection of evening dresses from a USA dress store for women that is more laid back and more comfortable. Black is a common color for cocktail parties, but colors of a similar darkness are also acceptable.

Business parties

A dinner party ran by you or your partner's place of employment will most of the time be what is called "smart casual". That style would be casual, but also work appropriate. Wearing a gown is not necessary, but wearing something too revealing might be a risk that you should not take, either, if a job promotion is in you or your partner's future.

Job interviews

With a job interview, you need to leave a great first impression, not with an attractive looking dress, but rather a professional dress. Your attire should signify that you are groomed to work at the place you are interviewing at, so it is okay to call human resources in advance for the interview's dress code. Jewelry should be prohibited from your interview attire, except for a watch, which would mean that you are a sophisticated individual that likes to keep track of time.

Religious events

These events include a bat mitzvah, baptism, or another religious ceremony that takes place at a church, cathedral, temple, or synagogue. With this in mind, you should think twice before wearing something that is too revealing. Preferable articles of clothing to wear include cardigans, khakis, and knee length skirts. Because these guidelines may be strict, it doesn't mean you cannot look festive.

First date

Like an interview, a first date is meant to leave a good first impression. Be sure to dress casual, but at the same time, do not look laid back. Women have a wider selection of clothes to wear than men, but it may be harder to find something to wear for a first date, in which a visit to a USA dress store for women would not be a bad idea.

Funeral

For funerals, looking attractive or festive is not a priority; an occasion such as this is not about standing out. Women are recommended to wear knee length dresses, or pantsuits. While not mandatory, black is the safest color to wear if you are going to a funeral, with other acceptable colors being shades of grey, dark green and dark blue.
