As a fairly new name in the industry, Isabell Yalda Hellysaz already has a strong way of expression and signature elements in her designs. We all remember her space masks from her previous collection, no? They’re back for S/S15 and the space theme continues in lighter hues in the clothing as well.
The new collection, ”Lunar Exodus”, is inspired by the dream of ”going to space”, by astronauts, army uniforms and the 1960′s. The clothes are not the only thing revealing the influence of space, the catwalk with neon orange tapes and the way the models moved sharply and determinedly to their destinations gave the show a “spaced” feeling. The signature masks of IYH’s designs also gave the space mood a boost. The models walked in a criss-cross pattern to the front of the runway and in a straight line back which caused them almost, just almost, walking into each other. The perfect timing made us stare in awe, the whole show on the catwalk was almost as captivating as the collection itself.
The clothes felt very summery, in shades of white and nude with shimmery metallics, pastel apricot, hints of violet and turquoise. The neon orange also added a summer feeling to the colour palette. The whole collection felt very wearable although being very fashionable styled for the runway and futuristic at the same time. The styling consisted of light layering which is a Nordic favorite for the summer season. IYH also used styling elements like colour blocking and mixed materials and surfaces.
