Fashion Directory : Picking the Correct Fashion Directory

Is your company listed on the appropriate fashion directories? Here is a brief run down on some of the directories you should consider. By the way, I am bias, because I happen to own each of these directories... Anyway, I truly do think they are of benefit to members of the fashion industry network.

First, by far the largest directory that I have is the Apparel Search directory. That site I have been building for a decade. Although it does not look nearly as cool as the Fashion Industry Network (the super cool fashion site you are currently on), the Apparel Search site is actually WAY larger. It may not have the prettiest appearance, but it does have a huge amount of helpful information. Anyway, my point is that Apparel Search is a good directory to be listed on if you have a fashion business. HOWEVER, the one negative to listing on Apparel Search is that there is currently a small one time fee to have the listing posted (sorry, we all have to pay the bills...)

If you want a "free" method to post a listing on fashion directories. You can try the other directories that I have developed. The problem is that those sites are VERY small at this time. Actually, the Clothing Industry Directory has been developing nicely, but still rather small at the moment. Anyway, small but free is not particularly bad. It is good to have your fashion company listed on such directories.

Each directory submission is reviewed manually (not be computer technology). ONLY SUBMIT TO THE DIRECTORIES THAT ARE DIRECTLY RELEVANT TO YOUR BUSINESS. If you sell menswear, do not attempt to create a listing on the Women's Fashion Directory. If you play games, you will get banned from each of the directories. You are permitted to create listings on more then one directory, but they should be appropriate for your particular business. For example, if you are a Wholesalers of Women's t-shirts, you can add a listing on Apparel Search, Clothing Industry Directory, Women's Fashion Directory and the Wholesale Apparel Directory. All of those would be appropriate. But you most certainly in this example not list your company on the Textile Machinery Directory...

Apparel Search : The Apparel Search directory is the first stop if you are looking for information regarding clothing, textiles or fashion. This is by far the best fashion guide that we know. Again, this directory currently has a small one time fee. The price may change, but it is currently a one time fee of $35. You can learn the submission process and current rate at the add your fashion company section. By the way, if you have a great fashion blog and write a nice message with a link to Apparel Search or the Fashion Industry Network (or both), I would possibly be able to waive the submit fee). Clothing Industry Directory : The Clothing Industry Directory, covers all aspects of the clothing industry. This directory includes men's clothing, women's clothing, children's clothing, trimming, machinery, etc.

Children's Fashion Directory : The children's fashion directory is obviously for childrenswear. If you are in the business of selling kids clothing, this is the directory for you.

Clothing Factory Directory : This directory is for clothing factories. If you own a manufacturing facility, you are welcome to list your clothing factory or textile factory in this directory.

Fashion Technology Directory : The fashion technology directory is for searching for companies that provide fashion software or technology related services to the fashion industry.

Textile Industry Directory : The textile industry directory is for listing companies that sell fabrics. If you work for a textile company, you should make certain that your companies information is listed.

Textile Machinery Directory : The textile machinery directory is for companies that manufacturer or distribute textile machinery and equipment for the fashion, textiles or apparel industry.

Women's Fashion Directory : The women's fashion directory is for womenswear companies. Companies that sell women's fashion, women's footwear, or women's fashion accessories.

Men's Fashion Directory : The men's fashion directory is for menswear. Obviously...

Trims and Notions Directory : The trims & notions directory is where you will find fashion trimming such as zippers, buttons, labels, hangtags, hangers, etc.

Fashion Boutique Directory : The fashion boutique directory is for specialty stores selling clothing, footwear, jewelry, or fashion accessories. If you own or work for a fashion boutique, you are welcome to list your business in this fashion directory.

Wholesale Apparel Directory : The wholesale apparel directory is for clothing wholesalers. If you sell wholesale women's fashion, wholesale menswear or wholesale childrenswear you are welcome to list your company. This directory also has a section for wholesale fabric, wholesale textile machinery, wholesale trims and notions etc.

By the way, after you submit your listing do not be surprised if it takes a few days or week to see your listing on the site. Each must be reviewed one at a time, before being approved to become visible on the site. Also, you will be sent automatic e-mails after you register. Make sure to click the activation link to confirm you used your correct e-mail address to register the account. Note: there is no automatic e-mail notification for Apparel Search listing.
