Fashion Blogger : Actually Fashion Blogs on Blogger

If you enjoy blogging about fashion, you most likely already know that the Fashion Industry Network, is the best place in the fashion universe to post your blog messages. However, we must be realistic and understand that the world does not simply revolve around our little fashion family... Although I personally very much enjoy the fashion blog feature here on the Fashion Industry Network, it is important to understand that other good programs also exist. For those of you that have been working on fashion blogs for a long time, you have most likely heard of the program provided by google which is called Blogger. Blogger has been around for years and appears to be a very good system for posting blog messages.

OK, the fact of the matter is that I am NOT suggesting that you move from the fashion industry blog system to the blogger blog system. What I am suggesting is that if you already use blogger for your fashion blogging needs, you may want to try the following feature.

Because I like to learn about blogging systems, I was playing around a little with the blogger system to see what I could do in regard to creating a fashion blog. I realized that I can actually add my most recent blog posts from the Fashion Industry Network directly onto blogger by using the RSS feed.

Here is an example of what I started as a test of the Fashion Industry Network Blog on Blogger.

If you look toward the top center of the page (not all the way at the top), you should see text that says "Fashion Blog Posts - Fashion Industry Network". Under that text, you will see around 5 links to recent blog posts that had been submitted by members of the fashion industry network. For your blogger account, you can use the feed to show posts from all members as I had done, or you can simply add links to your own blog posts that you have created on FIN.

So here is how you can do it.. After logging into your BLOGGER account, you click the "design" link. In that section, you will find "add gadget". If you click the add gadget link, a new window should pop up. Click the plus sign to add the "Feed" gadget. You will then be asked to add a Feed URL. Don't panic.. I will tell you know how to find the URL feed for your blog. On the FASHION INDUSTRY NETWORK site, click the link to "blogs". In that section toward the top left, you will find a link to "My Blogs" (if you are already logged into the system). After you click on "my blogs" which should take you to a page of the blogs you have posted on FIN, then go to the very bottom of the page. Toward the left you will see a little image that looks like the image below (but smaller and not so orange).

Click on that tiny image on your "my blog" page. That will bring you to a page where you can cut and past the URL (the web address that appears on the top in your browser).

You can take that URL (web page address) and put that into Blogger.

Well, now that I wrote all of this out, maybe I made this more complicated then it should be. Anyway, my point is that you can add your fashion blog posts from the Fashion Industry Network, directly to your blogger by taking a few steps to set it up. Then it would automatically update your blogger account in the future.

By the way at my fashion blog on blogger, you will see that I add the Fashion Industry Network badge. That is pretty simple also. Just cut and paste code by using the HTML/JavaScript widget on Blogger.

If you actually read this blog post, sorry that it was so long.. I hope I did not confuse what really is a simple process.

By the way, once you create a gadget on blogger, you can move it anywhere on your page. You can move the blog posts to a location that you think looks best. I added it toward the top because it will help keep me blogger page looking fresh even if I do not have time to post a message each day. The feed will automatically post the newer blog posts from FIN.

PLEASE keep all discussions relevant to fashion, textiles, beauty products, or jewelry.

Follow the Fashion Industry Network Rules.

It is always a good time to review fabulous fashion.
