The fashion industry has been revolutionized along the years by a number of creative and innovative designers. You’ve seen their work and might have even worn their clothes, but what you didn’t know about them is that their impressive good taste has gone beyond the world of fashion. Some of the most famous designers, the ones you’ve probably talked about more than once, have managed to connect their talent in fashion design with interior design and to make out of their houses a beautiful display of self-expression and creativity.

Which designers have actually turned their exclusive properties iconic homes? Here are some of the most talked-about estates, a few of them preserved and open to visitors:

 Yves Saint Laurent’s Oasis Villa

Yves Saint Laurent was taken away by the Jardin Majorelle when he first visited Marrakech, somewhere around 1966. While the garden and villa weren’t in their best condition, the designer loved the vibe of the entire place and purchased the property in 1980, reviving both the house and the garden. With a few yellow accents, the focal point of the house is the blue azure façade, and the Moorish, art deco design. You’ll discover there many elements of Islamic and Berber art. While the exterior is so vibrant, the interior maintains a muted colouring approach, creating an interesting contrast. The garden is, however, what draws most interest. You have the possibility of checking out the garden in person, if you’re visiting Marrakech, being accessible to the public, but the Oasis Villa only permits restricted tours.

Gianni Versace’s Miami Estate

Casa Casuarina has become as famous for architecture enthusiasts as Gianni Versace was for fashion lovers. Located on Ocean Drive in Miami, Florida, the house was bought by fashion creator Versace in ’92. While the exterior might resemble your common luxury celebrity house, once you step inside you will come across a remarkable blend of glamour and drama. The style of the interior is as daring and vibrant as the style of the clothes the designer was known for. There are antique furnishings present, vivid colours all around and renaissance frescoes. While the house has undergone some renovations over the years, it still maintains Versace’s authentic touch. Casa Casuarina is now a luxury hotel, but is still considered a living memorial of the designer’s personality. You can easily say that it’s one of the most impressive luxury homes you’ve set your eyes on.

Anna Fendi’s Rome Villa

The 20th century villa, referred to as Villa Letitia, was purchased and renovated by the famous handbag designer, Anna Fendi. The designer managed to restore every element of the villa, starting with the stuccos and frescoes and up to the marble details. However, shed did incorporate some contemporary artworks  by Enrico Castellani, creating an interesting mix in the interior design of the building. Because the style is reminiscent and exuberant, it certainly remains quite representative of the Fendi brand. Transformed into a luxury hotel, you now have the chance to stay in one of the sophisticated rooms of the villa or dine at the Michelin starred restaurant there.

Marc Jacob’s NY Townhouse

You already know everything there is to know about the Marc Jacob Brand – it’s colourful, eccentric and daring. Well, you will be surprised to discover that the designer’s home is actually highly sophisticated and chic. The designer opened the doors to his New York townhouse when he did an interview with Architectural Digest. If you’ve seen the photos of the house, you’ve probably discovered the main elements that make it exquisite. Marc Jacob’s displays a beautiful selection of contemporary art, all of the furniture is custom-made, and you’ll also notice a few lovely art deco antiques. All four-storeys of the property are refined and visually appealing. The property also incorporates a garden with unusual art displays and an intimate rooftop terrace.

Tommy Hilfiger’s Miami luxury mansion

Tommy Hilfiger has a reputation of combining chicness with classic lines and sleek styles, but his formerly-owned mansion goes beyond the America style he’s become known for. Located in Miami, this house is anything but ordinary. The interior has a psychedelic art approach, ensured by interior decorator Martyn Lawrence Bullard, each one of the rooms being full of daring colours and intriguing patterns. Each bedroom has its own individual style, and the property also includes an impressively-large outdoor pool, a private beach and a solarium. The mansion was sold in 2017.

If you’re a fashionista, you probably know all of the designers mentioned above, and you’ve often fallen in love with their creations. Some of the most famous designers worldwide extended their love of great aesthetics onto their homes, and if you check a few photographs o the places above-mentioned, you’ll conclude that yourself. Each of these exclusive houses has its particular touch, and some of them you even have the possibility to visit. You’ll notice the impeccable taste right away.
