Fabrics and Colors for This Monsoon

Monsoons mean a lot of fun, junk food and getting wet in the rain. But, with all of the fun comes the downside of clothes that take hours to dry followed by stench which fail to go away even after emptying the entire bottle of your deodorant.

More often than not, this downside becomes the reason people dread the monsoons. However every season has its pros and cons and its best we learn to deal with the cons so that we can enjoy it. Hence, monsoons can be enjoyed if the proper kinds of clothes are chosen. Read on to know which materials and colors are best for the rainy season and which ones to avoid.

Fabrics for Monsoon

Lightweight fabrics are the best for monsoons. Since rains have an unpredictable nature and you never know when it may start off, it’s best to stay prepared. Always choose materials that can dry quickly and don’t leave a lingering stench.

Opt for pure cottons, silk cotton mix, cotton polyester mix, nylon Lycra, crepe silk and Georgette make for great monsoon fabrics. They are lightweight and don’t even make you feel heavy even after being drenched.

For the denim lovers, this is a season to experiment with new fabrics and try on different looks. Opt for corduroys and chinos which are lighter than denim and dry faster saving you the embarrassment arising out of the stench.

Steer clear of linen and chiffons because they tend to cling on to your body and expose it in a bad way. Denims and knits are also bad choices to make for the rains since they take a long time to dry. Leather should be put away during this season since they breed fungus after getting wet hence spoiling the materials and its appeal.

Colors and Prints

Not all of us have the luxury of staying back at home and enjoying a movie with steaming coffee and popcorn. Working professionals have to make it to office each day irrespective of whether along with showing their bright side up.

Believe it or not colors have in them the potential to deceive. For monsoons, the colors need to be chosen wisely. The white family should be totally avoided. If you are not the I-love-to-experiment type, the blacks, light and dark grays, browns are certainly the best choices to make. They help camouflage slight mud and water splashes to a great extent.

For those who can carry bright colors with élan, try bright greens, blues, pinks, yellows and orange. When choosing raincoats and slip-ons, opt for neons as they’ll help brighten up your look and add a much needed style statement to your dressing.

Remember, no season is bad unless you don’t know how to enjoy it. Hence, show your bright side up and enjoy the monsoons!
