MOVE over Big Fat Gypsy Wedding - 2017 is all about the big fat Holy Communion uk prom dresses with some families spending thousands of euro for their little one’s big day.

TV3 viewers tonight are treated to a new series featuring wedding dress maker to the travelling community, Thelma Madine, who turns her hands to communion dresses in a brand new six-part series.

The series reveals how talented Thelma, who shot to fame in the Channel 4 series Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, has been inundated with requests for lavish dresses with some families prepared to splash some serious cash.

One Belfast-based family shell out a whopping €5,000 for their daughter’s dream dress.

First Holy Communion is a huge stepping-stone in any Catholic child’s life, and it’s only getting bigger.

With over 20 years of experience in the business, Thelma has dressed hundreds of 7-8 year olds.

Her clientele are no shrinking violets – parents, kids, extended families – all spare no expense when it comes to the First Holy Communion.

A sizeable chunk of her business is done in Ireland – and not just within the travelling community.

To ensure the creations are perfect, Thelma’s customers even travel all the way to Liverpool, where Thelma’s workshop is based, for fittings right up to the big day.

In tonight’s first episode Thelma comes to Dublin to meet cousins Ellie and Cody Keogh who each have very different feelings towards their extravagant Holy Communion outfits.

Whilst Ellie has been dreaming about her fairy-tale ‘Thelma’ dress for years, Cody is none too happy that his mum wants to put him in a white suit with a blinged-up waistcoat and hat.

We also meet the colourful Connors sisters and see a very unique prom dresses online design featuring Our Lady.

‘Thelma’s Big Irish Communions’ starts tonight night at 8pm on TV3.
