Dividing Dark Review

I love new authors! It is always an interesting experience reading one of the first books from an author, it seems to me that the first book is always amazing… or horrible. Of course the first book for an author is a defining experience and moment for them. I month or so ago I finished Dividing Dark by Melissa Swaim, her first novel, and loved it! The first night I started reading, I emailed Melissa to tell her how excited I was about her book, it was so good.  I loved the twists. Dividing Dark is a young adult science fiction novel that was unlike anything I’d read before. The teenage girl in me ate it up, it was extremely unique and enjoyable.

The main character is a girl… not really a surprise. She meets a boy who is automatically attracted to her and driven to protect her… still a common characteristic. But you’ll never guess the twist of the paranormal that exist in the story, it’s pretty cool. The setting of the story is in this stormy, cliff prone, cave riddled, mountainous region that just adds to the ambiance. The girl, Fee, just moved to this town that is holding a pretty big secret, and the prologue is extremely gripping in how it sets the scene for what this secret is. So although there are some rather simple plot details, the characters are great and the story has its own uniqueness that drives you to keep reading.

House Of Night Series: Hunted Review

I couldn’t put this book down when I picked it up. It is by far the most entrancing, suspenseful, on the edge of my seat novel written by the PC Cast duo thus far. Good argumentative essay topics for you.The nightmare caused by the release of an ancient fallen angel arm and arm with one of the most powerful vampyres, Neferet, put me in constant fear for the lives of Zoey and her group of both blue and red vamps. My stomach churned and my mind twisted through each episode of catastrophe that brought more threats of death and injury.

Zoey also makes some significant realizations about who she is and how she knows Kalona the fallen angel. She really comes into her own and I can see her becoming the vampyre high priestess that Nyx has blessed so well.

For those of you who weren’t sure about Aphrodite, you are forced to decide how you feel about her in this novel. I decided that I loved her! She is sharp and intelligent, able to use the talents she has to get what she wants and to protect herself.

Aphrodite also becomes one of Zoey’s biggest advocates and allies and is key in helping to arrange the plan the group devises to go up against the evil back at the House of Night. Will Zoey and her friends make it through a full blown war of vampyre versus vampyre? Will Neferet win? Will the fallen angel Kalona use his relationship with Zoey against her? The twisting journey doesn’t end at the end of the novel but instead leaves you ready and waiting for the next book… Tempted.
