Developing Fashion Websites

Developing Fashion Websites
During the past few years, I have been asked by a few people to develop their fashion websites. My answer has always been the same... "Sorry, I only develop my own fashion websites". The fact of the matter is that I do not consider myself to be an expert at website development, so I would never take the chance developing sites for other people. I guess I fear letting someone down if I agreed to develop their site and ran into any difficulty with the execution of the plan. Anyway, to make a long story short, I still do NOT help others develop their websites.

Recently I discovered a fairly simple tool that may help fashion companies develop their own websites. Basically, it is a free services provided by Google. I am not sure if the official name, but I believe it is either "Google Sites" or simply "Sites". The system currently provides the following site building tools.

  • Single-click page creation
  • Customizable look and feel
  • Dozens of pre-built templates
  • Settings for accessing and sharing information
To test the system, I created a few sites. Please note that these are tests... I understand that they are not very good or complete sites... Just wanted to build these to show you a quick example of what sort of fashion websites you can create. Certainly, you can take your time and do a better job.

In my opinion, the above mentioned service is a good one for someone that wants a basic clothing company website without all the bells and whistles (and at no cost). In all honesty, I am not sure if you can add a shopping cart or other features (possibly, you can). If shopping carts are not currently a feature, possibly Google will add that feature in the future. Anyway, I do not think you can create large fashion sites such as the Fashion Industry Network or Apparel Search from this particular system, but you can probably create a very nice site.

Anyway, if you were looking for a low or no cost method to develop your own website, you may want to check this out as an option.

PLEASE keep all discussions relevant to fashion, textiles, beauty products, or jewelry.
