Designer Wear Salwar Kameez are most preferred dress for wedding in India. Hindus as well as Muslims bride mostly choose Designer Wear Salwar Kameez for their wedding ceremony except Hindu bride of South India, they prefer traditional silk saris. Though the wedding dresses are usually bright in color but the commonly chosen color is red.
In Hindu marriages, the group puts Sindoor or a red Tilak in the bride's forehead, it is considered as one of the main ritual of marriage. The red Tilak is a symbolic of married women. The red sindoor is nothing but a Kumkum powder which is made of turmeric powder and lime or from pure sandalwood paste. It is considered good for skin but for commercial purpose it is made from synthetic materials. Today liquid Kumkum or sticker also known as Bindi are available in the market in vast and beautiful designs. In present scenario, cheaper things are easily available but the authenticity of these things available is not guaranteed for instance, silk saris which are also traditional wear dresses in the South India, these saris are usually made up of silk but these are available in artificial silk in the market, similarly cotton and also other fabrics like georgette and all are available in duplicate forms. Bridal colours like red, maroon, orange, pink etc and even the colours like blue, green are considered the most appropriate colours for wedding dresses.
