That's So New York - Lesser known but hugely talented jewellery designer Alidra Alić’s forte is creating a conceptual universe within contemporary jewelry. Her work and approach is based on knowledge of artisinal goldsmith traditions and an academic background in art history & contemporary art. The trademark of her unusual jewellery is handcrafted contemporary jewellery pieces. The jewellery pieces are statements of art and not for the feeble-hearted. They also feature in exhibitions at international galleries & museums. Alidra has also launched a fine jewellery collection - a series of wearable pieces.
There are beautiful concoctions in plastic and silver, rings mostly, each piece highly imaginative and as rare and evocative as an artist’s painting. The Flora ring collection deserves a special mention with its breathtakingly serene and magical rings. “Interpretations’ features jewellery with vintage silhouettes but made of quirky painted silver. As she says, “I illustrate my concept using a self-invented plastic technique in combination with precious metals and stones. I work with themes of illusion and lack of function in order to awake my viewers' curiosity and to show jewellery in new value contexts.”With collections such as “Alice in Wonderland”, “Flora”, “Flowers” and “Buttons”, Alidra has definitely carved herself an inimitable niche in the jewellery world. “Drink me” is our personal favourite and a collector’s item we recommend.
