Again here is another piece from that amazing collector of luxury clothes left over from the estate sale that got donated to a thrift store where I grabbed it and ran! With each piece that I found from this lady’s collection I kept thinking what an amazing eye for detail she had. I would have loved to have met this lady who collected only the best things during her lifetime and treasure them until she died. Apparently she had no family and her estate went to some charity. When I found this Chester Weinberg piece I about fell out. Chester Weinberg studied at Parsons School of Design and then worked at Teal-Traina (which I’m dying to find a piece from that label), established his own label in 1966 the label folded in 1975 and he was a freelance designer from 1975-78. American fashion is said to have come to age in the 1960′s and Chester Weinberg is counted among those designers such as: Bill Blass, Geoffrey Beene, Oscar de la Renta and Donald Brooks who are credited with helping American fashion grow up. Specifically, Weinberg designed clothes notable enough to garner the sort of distinction and reputation that only French fashion had previously enjoyed. This is the real deal here guys. This Chester Weinberg piece is very collectible just see for yourself on 1stdibs. Again I’m so glad nobody purchased this piece during that estate sale…. Thank the GODS above and below for that! I’m Daniel Troppy your vintage luxury curator!
