Chanel Fall 2011 Ready-To-Wear

8842889662?profile=originalThat's So New YorkKarl Lagerfeld's breathtaking shows always seem to transport you to another world. His most recent collection took you into a darker place. With models walking down a smoldering, volcanic runway, it made the collection seem more daring. Using The Cure to open the show and a dark, sombre orchestra to begin the runway walk, Lagerfeld's creations came to life. Loose, oversized trouser suits matched with jeweled tweed jackets and flat brogues defined this collection. The fabrics were thick and undefined with the use of black and grey shades and the occasional hint of darker reds or green. Metallic twines added sophistication and glamour to the androgynous assemblage. Fitted, cropped jackets or long, fitted capes were paired with skinny jeans tucked into ankle boots and crisp white shirts fitted with lace, embroidered ties alongside tweed suit pants worn with black kitten heels. Feather skirts and sheer maxi dresses added to the sophistication and elegance of the collection. With pinned knot side-swept hair and natural but graphite glimmering eyes make-up, this Chanel collection was a far cry from the latest colour blocking and white minimalism we've been seeing across the fashion matrix. - Contributor - Kat Rickett
