Buying Kurtis Online

I am a very bad gifter. I mean, I am pretty lousy at choosing gifts as I have absolutely no clue about what the other person will like. So when it was my fiancée’s birthday coming up, I was terrified at the prospect of choosing a gift for her. We got engaged couple of months back and in the initial days, I had exhausted most gifting options that include perfumes and watches. She did not like wearing a lot of jewellery, so that option wasn’t there for me anymore.

“Everyone wears clothes and girls love clothes,” said Ashu, my friend, as he spread languorously on my sofa. He reminded me of Duke, my German Shepherd, from the way he would make any furniture his own. “Ok, cool.” I decided to take the help of my laptop to check out a few online shopping site.8843610458?profile=original

“Kurtis!” screamed most sites. I checked them out. Within minutes, my mind went into a tizzy as I saw the unending range of colours, designs and patterns of the most ubiquitous apparel of Indian women. I was getting mesmerized at the wide variety of kurtis on display. I had never ever looked at women’s clothing with intent. And now that I was seeing it, I was awestruck at how much variety a simple apparel can offer.

Silks, synthetics, cottons and even linen. Printed, dyed, embroidered and embellished. Short sleeved, long sleeved, short length and long length. Tunic-styled or traditional cut. Collared, un-collared. Where do I start? After 25 minutes into my adventure of kurtis online shopping, I started enjoying every moment of it.

I started shortlisting, or “wishlisting,” the ones that I liked. After maybe an hour, I had some 10-odd kurtis in my wishlist. Now the challenge was to select one or, at the most, two out of these 10 gorgeous looking kurtis. I started imagining Revathi, my fiancée, in each kurti. After another 10 minutes, I had narrowed down to two. I decided to order both.

“So, did you find anything worthwhile?” Ashu said between mouthfuls of the rava idlis Mom had prepared for his “favourite other son.” “Yeah, I decided to buy kurtis online,” I said, as I picked up an idli. “Watch your weight, young man. You are getting married in less than a month,” said Ashu as he tried to snatch the idli from my hand. I was quick to dodge him and put the last idli in my mouth as he looked at me with disdain.
