With about four months until her June wedding to Hagerstown resident Jamel Herriot, Talina Richey was looking for a caterer, wedding favors and someone to make her wedding cake while she perused vendors' offerings Sunday at Herald-Mail Media's 2016 Bridal & Prom Expo.

Richey, 30, of Hagerstown talked to a representative from Mountain Gate Family Restaurant in Thurmont, Md., one of more than 90 vendors in Valley Mall's main corridor.

"I like that everyone is friendly and everyone is lined up in the center, and they have their cards and their booklets and other information. So everything that we actually came for, we were able to find rather easily," said Richey, who was shopping with her matron of honor, Tiffany Chavous of Baltimore.

Richey was among hundreds of people checking out the bakers, caterers, photographers, disc jockeys, limousine services, wedding-apparel businesses and myriad other vendors.

Two afternoon fashion shows were held in front of The Bon-Ton, displaying wedding and prom apparel from David's Bridal and Men's Wearhouse.

While the men showed off suits and tuxedos, the women modeled not only wedding and prom gowns, but dresses for bridesmaids and mothers of the bride.

Before the noon fashion show began, Hagerstown-based Tanique held a spray-tanning demonstration on the stage.

Alexandra "Alex" Mandeville, 21, of Hagerstown wore a green bikini while she stood in a booth on the stage being spray-tanned.

"It was pretty cool," Mandeville said of being tanned on a stage in front of a bunch of people.

Mia-Faire Williams said she started Tanique in 2007, and she launched her national brand, with her own spray-tan product line, last year. Her products are in almost 40 salons and spas across the country, she said.

Miranda Behanna, 29, of Hagerstown is marrying Jim Pasqualini of Martinsburg, W.Va., in May at the Historic McFarland House in Martinsburg, she said.

Behanna said she already has her dress, food and music lined up for the big day, but she and her maid of honor, Lauren Close of Hagerstown, were checking out the expo to see if there was anything Behanna missed.

Alison Wise, who moved to Hagerstown last year, said she was mainly looking for DJs and caterers, and perhaps someone to make miniature cupcakes for her wedding.

Wise said she's marrying Scott Hoffman of Hagerstown at Williamsport's Springfield Barn in October.Read more at:bridesmaid dress
