With the arrival of SYNERGY’s 007-themed New Year’s Eve party approaching, soon a question on everyone’s mind will be “What to wear?” With the help of the famous women in the James Bond series, everyone can enjoy a bit of danger and glamour.

Sexy, beautiful, charismatic, and ready to kick ass, The Bond Girl has many aspects of her personality that charm all of us. Along with her attitude, the Bond Girl has also allured us through her outfits of choice.

Honey Rider, the first Bond Girl, emerged onto the scene in a white bikini in the first of the Bond Series’, Dr. No (1962). The scene, which is one of cinema’s most famous, begins with her coming out of the ocean, sun glimmering off her bronze skin and blonde hair, with a seashell in each hand, singing a beautiful tune. The impact of the scene was huge; a UK survey held by Channel 4 recognized Honey Ryder’s entrance as number one of the 100 Greatest Sexy Moments (BBC 2003), Entertainment Weekly voted Ryder as the best Bond Girl, and Andress attributes her success to the bikini scene. Die Another Day (2002) restored the act, this time with Halle Berry as ‘Jinx’ in a teeny orange bikini.

Our next Bond Girl, Jill Masterson, was golden, literally. Covered and gleaming from head to toe in gold paint, Jill kept our attention with her bed-head hair, black winged eyeliner, and incredible talent to wear metallic (and nothing else) in Goldfinger (1964). A famous fashion moment was when she wore only Bond’s baby blue pajama top. She was also famous for sunning in a black bikini on a lavish balcony while spying, the first time Bond and her meet.

Goldfinger also introduced us to Pussy Galore, another Bond Girl. As the head of the Flying Circus, an all-female team of pilots, her outfit was comprised of a white button down vest with black tailored pants; Lady Gaga’s dance sequence in 2010’s Alejandro is reminiscent of this look. She was also known to display her décolletage with sexy low-cut blouses, perfect to seduce Bond into a hay stack. Her long, golden bob was always side-parted with a bit of flounce at the bottom and her full, lush eyelashes further highlighted the “come-hither” attitude she exhibited.

The Man With the Golden Gun (1974), was the ninth film in the series and acquainted audiences with Andrea Anders,
AKA “Miss Anders.” Her high cheek-bones and icy blue eyes attracted us immediately, but her skill with a gun reeled us in. Paired with a serpentine black one-piece swimsuit and a paisley print scarf over her hair, or a lavender silk robe with sheer tights and black strappy sandals, she knew just how to draw us in and keep our attention with her sultry yet subtle outfit choices.

Another blonde with a fabulous bone structure was Magda from Octopussy (1983), who was most famous for her dramatic outfits. A belly-dancer’s costume comprised of bright red fabric, silver trim, and silver fringe was one of Magda’s memorable looks. The two-piece was accessorized with colored gems on golden belts, bracelets, headpieces, and a chunky necklace. Long, manicured fingernails and smoky eyes were the perfect beauty touches to complete the look. Magda was also remembered for her ringleader suit. The outfit included a black top hat with a white band, a white bowtie, white blouse, black jacket studded with rhinestones, black hot pants, and black fishnets. Magda gave theatrical attire a sexy twist which would make any man with a pulse drool.

A long-sleeve, plum sheer gown with floral embellishments covering just the right spots – this is how Elektra King was remembered in The World is Not Enough (1999). The sheer top stopped just about waist-high and continued into a matching plum silk skirt with a high slit that left the imagination running. Her other notable dress of choice was a sequin scarlet gown with matching shawl, ruby earrings and velvety red lips. Her wispy, unfussy brunette tresses were another staple to her looks, acting as the balancing act to the overtly sexy dresses.

Vesper Lynd, Casino Royale (2006), makes her silver screen debut approaching the poker table to meet with James Bond. All eyes on her as she glides through the crowds in a slinky plum gown with low-cut front and back, smoky eyes, and piled-on jewelry; unfortunately her entrance was supposed to be low-key, but who cannot gain the spotlight in a sultry look as such? Vesper also favors classic looks, such as black and white stripes on a boating trip with Bond or a chic chignon on a train ride, proving that seductive and elegant can live in harmony.

Camille, Quantum of Solace (2008), was the most recent of our beloved Bond Girls. The Russian/Bolivian beauty was squeezed into a 50’s inspired Little Black Dress; a tight bustier top accentuated her tiny waist, while the bottom billowed out into a romantic, pleated skirt. She wore a cute, trendy bob and natural makeup, emphasizing her stunning splendor.

These favorable Bond Girls know what they are doing when it comes to style. Mainly focusing on the low-key make-up but high-end fashion, they achieve a balance between sweet and sexy. With the face of an angel but the attitude of a rebel, they display strong confidence, a characteristic every woman should posses. It’s safe to say that we all would all benefit from possessing a little Bond Girl action in all of us.
