Apparel Closeouts : Excess Fashion Inventory

Do you have any idea what I am talking about when I say, "Apparel Closeouts"? Well, if you are in the fashion industry (which I hope you are), you most likely understand that I am referencing excess inventory. I call it apparel closeouts, but others may reference this subject as clothing closeouts, fashion closeouts, excess inventory, distressed inventory, returns, overages, etc. As far as I am concerned, apparel closeouts are fashion relevant product that may be a canceled units at the factory, tons of samples you have been collecting in your showroom for the past ten years, or most probably excess inventory at a clothing warehouse (store returns, overages, cancelations, etc.). The problem with excess inventory is the simple fact that "inventory" can be the kiss of death. Unless you have replenishment programs with a retailer, holding inventory can very quickly become a liability. Anyway, the point is that if you have inventory you should try to "close it out". In other words, "sell it off". Or better yet, get if the heck out... What you should do is consult a closeout company that specializes in apparel. Several years ago, I created a section on Apparel Search for apparel closeouts. In that section, I listed companies that buy excess clothing inventory. In all honesty, I probably need to update the section. Some of the companies may have gone out of business others may have moved to new locations... If you see any contact information in that section that is outdated, please let me know and I will update the listings. By the way, if you know other closeout specialists that are not currently listed (companies buying closeouts), please tell them to add their company information to the apparel closeout section on Apparel Search. I would be happy to add more companies to the directory. In the closeout section, I had also created a closeout message board to allow people to post information about excess clothing inventory. If you have units for closeout, you are welcome to post a message in that area. The message board is decent, but unfortunately it often gets spammed as well. It is hard to keep away the trouble makers.. Anyway, if you have excess inventory, you shouldn't... Make sure to do something about it
