Andrew Majtenyi - Fall/Winter 2009 Runway.Photography by: Marek WlazloThe 60 piece collection returns to his signature tailored looks, updated for AW09, featuring a deep expansiveness of muted monotones with subtle richness.“The trench coat has such a rich and lurid history,” says Andrew of his key inspiration. “It can be overtly sexy, sinister, or just plain perverse” This classic and timeless piece has been worn from the highest of kings to the homeless; the most elegant gentleman to the crude flasher.”Silhouettes are modern with early 90’s references, and appear geometric in form. To complement such rigidity, soft dresses in cashmere blend knits creates fluidity and balance. Very subtle military influences are seen.Textures in many forms are principal in the development of each design. Pebble stone circles create a standout accent, treated boiled wool results in circular nodes, velvet embossed plaid builds depth, torn strips attached creates stripes, stitched yarns create a touch of masculinity, balancing with floral thread stitched cashmere knits.Cool and foggy shades provide a richness of colour depth in deep slate, quarry grays.Blended black encourages a sense of darkness throughout the collection. Pumpkin and thistle green adds comforting warmth.Andrew Majtenyi - Fall/Winter 2009 Runway picture gallery
