It dawned on me the other day that for some time now I’ve been shamelessly sauntering around in an atrociously scruffy black blazer. The accused item has a hole in the arm, cat hairs perpetually stuck to the fabric and is so tight across my back it causes me to walk like a hunch back. I cannot believe I have been walking around in this atrocity for so long! There really is no excuse. My only explanation is that I relied on the blazer being a safe staple of my wardrobe (it was once a cool little black blazer I can assure you) and was so used to pulling the jacket on without a thought. Wearing it I’d feel confident that I was flaunting an effortlessly stylish look, until one day I realised I resembled one of those tramps that wander the streets in a dusty old suit carrying a battered brown suitcase.
So out with the old and in with the new, I discovered this sleek black blazer from American Apparel (who knew American Apparel did smart blazers?!) and at £35 reduced from £69 is a total bargain. The jacket fits well, loose but fitted (no more walking around like a hunch back) and is slouchy yet smart. Now that goddamn cat ain’t going anywhere near it and hopefully, I won’t be a style icon for tramps anymore…

I had to use the image from the website as the blazer comes up too dark on my camera! But also teaming the jacket with a neon yellow top is a cool styling idea.
