Some of you may not realize that one of our EmailDiva family, Denise at http://reelgirlsfish.net
, lives in the Houston area. I just spoke to her on the phone, and she assures me that she and her family are ok. However, as I was talking to her, she was driving around, looking for gas and food. She says her home sustained some damage, but generally everything seems to be ok for her and her family. I am thankful.
Please take a moment to give thanks for her safety to your higher power with me.
This reminds me about an interview one of the cable news channels had with a representative of the American Red Cross. The representative was saying that they were borrowing money to offer aid to the victims of Gustav, and I imagine it's the same for the Ike victims. It's a sad state of affairs when our own bellwether aid organization has to borrow money to help our people in time of disaster (I won't even touch on the travesty of politics here), so join with me to donate what you can to ensure they have enough money to help the people in Denise's area.
Denise is keeping her chin up, though she is reporting that the power will be out for six weeks or so and that gas is extremely scarce in the area. She's a trooper, both with her business and with her life. Let's help her community by doing what we can.
