SCAM: Online Modeling and Talent Agencies

There are many online talent agencies where, for a membership fee, potential models can post their photos for talent scouts to "discover." Some of these sites even go so far as to have a "Become a talent scout" division for potential "talent scouts."

FACT: The term "talent scout" is usually a tip-off that the site is either a rip-off or cannot help you. Real "talent scouts" are not called that within their respective fields, except by the media.

FACT: People at casting agencies, modeling agencies, and talent agencies see enough potential models in person and receive enough photos through other means that searching online for "new faces" is unnecessary.

FACT: Good casting directors, modeling agents, and talent agents are too busy to spend hours online trolling for photos of "new faces."

FACT: The quality of many of the photos posted on these sites is often so bad it’s of no use to a potential agent or casting director anyway.

Why is High Glam Society casting and scouting online?

For two years, we have seen young men and women on sites like Myspace and Model Mayhem who has the potential to be a fashion and commerical mode but most of their photos are "glamour" (mainly the females). In addition to that, we have read responses on forums and message boards on other websites that clearly shows that these people were getting alot of misinformation on how the modeling world works. Furthermore, we have seen the wanna-be models work in unprofessional settings such as doing nude shots with GWCs (guys with cameras), nightclubs, and crazy fashion shows in hopes of becoming discovered.

The fashion industry is the very difficult. Many of these "wanna bes models " are not fully grasping the hard work, commitment, and the requirement of having a tough. It is not guaranteed that the High Glam Society MVP program will produce successful working fashion and commercial models. What we hope to do is groom and educate the "wanna-be models" on how the industry actually works. Some may get it. Some may not get it.

High Glam are looking for the males and females that are willing to grind to be in those fashion spreads, catalogs, Fashion Week, fit models for high end designers, spokesmodels for beauty cosmetics and the list goes on. We are not interested in grooming models to promote parties in nightclubs, doing nude and glamour photoshoots for Guys with Cameras.

Thank you for posting this educational information. This will hopefully help readers that are new to the industry.

Despite the fact that I actually have an online modeling site, I am in agreement with your statements that they may not be as beneficial as some models would believe. When I developed my site, it was done with the best intentions. The goal was to provide a free method for young models to create an online modeling resume. The originail thought was that they could then e-mail a link to their profile to agencies like yours so that they could at least get someone to look at their images. However, I am honesty not certain how successful the site has been to models. Anyway, I leave the site active in the hopes that it will in some way help the models. Even if it only helps one model catch a break, it was worth the effort...

Again, thanks for you message. It is very informative.
