Screen Printing or Stencil Printing : Printing on Textiles

OK, you probably already know this information. If so, you can simply disregard this post. This message is actually for members that are new to printing on textiles.

Screen printing... Silk, nylon or polyester is used as the screen in this printing process. The silk, nylon or poly screen is spread over the frame which, according to the desired design, has portions of the scren surface covered or enameled by a coating. Covered areas will not tke on the dyestuff (inks). The open areas allow the color to pass through the screen onto the fabric on which the screen is placed. Color (ink) is poured into the frame shell and is applied to the fabric by means of a squeegee. The squeegee is worked back and forth over the screen to press the ink thru the screen openings (parts not covered with coating). There has to be a separate frame for each color being printed.
