7 Fashion Trends You Love in this Spring Season

After the fashion runways of New York, Milan, London and Paris have drawn their curtains, it’s time to look back at the looks that rocked these fashion capitals to see more clearly what the runaway trends are and to own these in Spring. We go through lengths to do that, simply because “Clothes are like a good meal, a good movie, great pieces of music,” that is, according to top designer, Michael Kors.

The 7 trends to love this season

Spring fashion trends are looking a lot like modern, chic feminine and the trends are wide and varied.  After we’ve been bedazzled by the amazing creativity that went into each of the runway shows, here are the top 7 trends that caught our whims:

1.  Red and white stripes.  Spring brings us closer to the beach. This time, instead of the Santorini theme of whites and blues, we’ll be showering Spring in whites and bright reds. RED Valentino showed off this trend in bikinis, matching tops and shorts and an assymmetrical dress. Similar trends were seen with Altuzarra's off-the-shoulder dress. Variations include color blocking in stripes with red also as the dominant color at the Proenza Schouler show. Stripes were also a head turner at the Marc Jacobs, Rosie Assoulin and Lacoste runways.

2.  Summer flowers.  This Spring, florals are a girls’ best friend. The most eye catching florals we’ve seen are those pieces from Tory Burch: dainty dress with red flowers on cream background, florals and intricate design print dresses, skirts, tops and cardigans in shades of green. She paired it with white trainers.

For more floral inspirations, turn to bralette and layered, assymetrical ruffled skirt topped with a blazer in complementing color by Altuzarra; bright, one sleeve dress with flower prints in bright yellow, orange and purple by Rosie Assoulin; tube floral dress Boss; and, high-low full-length tube dress by Jason Wu.

3. Khaki.  One of the biggest Spring fashion trends is khaki. These pieces are being worn as mini dresses, polos, rompers and pants. The best Khaki we’ve seen is an off-the-shoulder jumpsuit pants by Sonia Rykiel. Accessorize with a hat, leather belt in tan and a large hobo bag or messenger bag. Khakis have also been seen on Dion Lee and Creatures of the Wind.

4. Uneven shoulder cuts. From one sleeve cuts to one-off shoulders, there’s nothing sexier than a piece of clothing showing off the shoulder and collar bones this season. For inspiration, check out Prabal Gurung, Tome, Monse, and Rosie Assoulin.

5. Embroidered prints. The over intricate designs from last season are still making our tasteful cuts this Spring. Take inspiration from the beautiful pieces fresh off the runways of Coach, to Tadashi Shoji, Naeem Khan and Alexander McQueen. The embroidered floral patterns made it all the way to the Fendi bags and the Gucci pumps and booties.

6.  Bright colored prints and garments. We are lovin’ the color this season. The pops of color that just came off the MAC Cosmetics’ new Work It Out collection came alive on the runway. Our most favorite bright pieces are the double layered, color-blocked slitted dresses from the Louis Vuitton Cruise Collection. Our jaws dropped at the masterfully put together design pieces by Proenza Shouler.

Take inspiration from the wrap-around collared dress with high side slits by Lacoste, bright pink sporty ensemble by DKNY, shimmery pencil cut dress in sunshine yellow shade by Ralph Lauren,  bright pink trench coat worn on gingham prints in pinks and oranges by Michael Kors, and sheer fabrics in bright reds and orange stripes by Delpozo.

7. Robes and kimonos. Take a tailored, ankle length piece to pair with your floral dress.  Find inspiration in the long wrap around dresses with Chinese collar, topped with full-length robe coats in soft fabric, also printed with florals from the runways of Diane von Furstenberg. We also look to Alberta Ferretti on the trendy ways to wear robes and kimonos this spring.

What’s beautiful about this piece is that you can take it from indoors to the beach. Care to top it on your bikinis and these beautiful clothes will still complement your summer outfits.
