66th All India Textile Conference to be held on Jan 28

textile conference India, Clothing Conference India, All India Textile Conference by TAI Karnataka Unit IndiaThe 66th All India Textile Conference this time will be hosted by the Karnataka chapter of The Textile Association (India), on the theme 'Expanding Sustainable Limits to India's Positioning in Global Textiles and Clothing" and will be held on January 28 & 29, 2011 at the Nimhans Convention Hall, Bangalore.
It is time for all of us to understand that this is a cyclic phenomenon of approximately 10 years. The industry is facing this either because of recession, quotas, or policies and so on. Now it is time to review what we can do to prevent us from another fall. The 66th All India Textile Conference held by Textile Association (India) would like to draw a map for the future.

The goals of the conference are -
1. Strategies for achieving significant strides in cotton productivity, quality and variety by benchmarking against Israel and Australia.
2. Strategies for achieving significant strides in mulberry and mulberry silk productivity by benchmarking against China.
3. Expanding on creating competitive edge and advantage from manufacturing (spinning, weaving and knitting), processing (bleaching, dyeing, printing and finishing) to clothing.
4. Creating conditions for expanding India's share in global exports in yarns, processed fabrics and garments.
5. Textile Parks as a business model: journey to date and path ahead in achieving employment, development of skills, economic development and earning of foreign exchange.
6. Strategies for positioning Indian fashion in the global landscape in different segments.
7. Role of retail sector and contribution of India in a global context of textiles and clothing.
8. Role & relevance of Nano-textiles and technical textiles.

Karnataka is a major centre for silk and garment industries. It was also a good textile centre with huge mills; however, in recent years the number of large textile mills in Karnataka has reduced drastically. The garment industry, mainly concentrated in Bangalore and to a small extent in Bellary, has now started spreading across Karnataka.

In July 2008, the Karnataka Government proposed to establish 11 Textile Parks to give a boost to textile industry in the state. With the new policy of the state government to make the state again a textile hub, thae 66th All India Textile Conference at Bangalore is sure to help the industry and the industry in the country.

Karnataka is hosting the All India Textile Conference after a gap of 40 years. We need support from all in the industry to make this Conference a grand success. We invite sponsors for various events. With the support of all of you, we would be able to organize a useful conference that can help expanding the sustainable limits of the Indian textile and garment industry and make them strong in the competitive global environment.
