Folks, don’t you think wearing a saree is so big a deal these days? (OMG you are wearing a saree to ohhh... kya baat hai!) Our mothers and grandmothers have been walking, cooking and doing daily errands wearing a saree since ages. Usha Soman had run a marathon wearing a saree! So, since when saree traversed from the comfort zone to ‘how do you manage it?’ spectrum? Well, not going into the details and on a lighter note, we are presenting the five crazy-ass situations women face when they chose to show up in an ethereal and a fabulous six-yard fabric!

Irrespective of how resplendent and diva-like you are feeling in the soft crepe silk saree or comfy cotton saree of yours, the unusual attention and stupid comments actually get on your nerve!
You can let them know that you need not get married to wear a saree! Even if you are all set to take the plunge, your sartorial choices don’t have to change for that.

Oh, you! What’s so special today?

Yes, today is ‘Don’t-give-creepy-stares’ day. Don’t you wish you could tell them that saree is indeed a special outfit that makes you look feminine but at the beginning of the day when you are at your best ranting mode and complaining ‘you-do not have-anything-to-wear,’ it is just another outfit in the wardrobe!

Aaj pati ki Birthday hai?

Yes, I might as well dress as a clown too. On second thoughts, if it’s his birthday, shouldn’t he be wearing a saree?

Last time when somebody else decided what I am going to wear, I was 5. Why on the earth would one’s mother in law or mother have a say in the outfits or fashion choices one makes unless one is in a diaper?

How do you manage it? I toh just can’t?

Well, a lot of twists turns and stumbling with the face down, sweetheart. It takes sheer practice to carry and flaunt such a royal and resplendent outfit. So, don’t try to compete unless you have actually tried wearing it in front of the mirror and did a catwalk in the living space of your home like a zillion times when nobody is watching of course.

You look so Indian!

What else am I supposed to look? I was born, brought up and raised as an Indian! (Shouts Bharat Mata ki Jai, in the parallel Universe)
