The pieces are made to last longer, usually fit better, and are more comfortable due to better fabrics. But not everyone can afford to drop $200 on a pair of jeans or shoes. Here are a few ways you can save on those designer duds.

Ebay

Shopping on eBay is wonderful, you can bid on pieces to get a lower price, or even put in a best offer to haggle that Chanel bag down to half price. Searching for that particular dress you want is a breeze as you can narrow by brand and category, and you can do it all from the comfort of home. Just be sure to ask questions and inspect the photos well to ensure you get exactly what you want.

Second-Hand Stores

Believe it or not, places like Goodwill often have designer items. Of course, they move quickly so you have to be on the lookout. Though this method is a little more time consuming, it can be worth it to come home with a $300 leather jacket for only $50. The best times to buy are when their shipments come in, usually in the morning.

Off-Season Shopping

Want that Burberry bikini to lounge in at the pool all summer? Shop for it right after Thanksgiving. Off-season shopping can offer some great markdowns on fashion, as not many people are going to buy shorts in ten degree weather. Some companies, like Paula and Chlo, know that finding versatile clothing in the off-season is always a good idea. Shops are trying to get rid of last season's items to make room for the current stock; lookout for great deals. Asking a store about discounts is not unheard of, either, so don't be shy.

Consignment Stores

For great prices on gently used high-end handbags, shoes, and clothing, consignment stores are a fantastic option. They will almost always guarantee authenticity, and offer steep markdowns for last year's designs. You can also sell or trade your own items which can save you some money as well as clear out some clutter from your closet. You can search for a store near you, or shop at any online branches.

Now that you know where to get those fabulous frocks and adorable accessories at a discount, shop on. With a little effort, everyone can have at least a few designer pieces in their closet for those special occasions.
