When you’re a woman who’s bombarded by particular messages of what outer beauty “truly” looks like, it can be discouraging when you don’t measure up. If you’re a curvier woman, it’s not healthy to compare yourself to the skinny models who are airbrushed to perfection. Besides, you never know if a woman has had plastic surgery or if a woman has an extremely fast metabolism. If you ever find yourself in a headspace where you’re discouraged and feel your self-esteem declining, consider some of the ways you can get a boost.

Positive Affirmations

It’s so important to consider the conversation you have with yourself. Your internal conversation will truly make or break your experience. If you’re constantly telling yourself that you’re ugly, overweight, or not good enough, you’ll believe it. Write down some positive affirmations that remind you of how beautiful you are. Repeat them on a daily basis before you start your day. The more you repeat them and internalize them, the more you’ll believe them.

Polished Appearance

It’s commonly stated that when you look good, you’ll feel good as well. Take pride in your physical appearance. You can be a stunning curvy queen who commands the room because you put yourself together well. Purchase plus-size clothing and get it tailored to fit your body perfectly. Get your hair, nails, and feet done. Plan your outfits the night before. When you’re presenting your best self to the world, it’ll simultaneously help you feel even better about yourself.

Supportive Messaging

Be mindful of the messaging you’re receiving. Be intentional about who you follow on social media. Follow people that inspire you. Avoid people who make you feel terrible about yourself. Know your triggers as well. If you find yourself feeling terrible because someone else loves who they are, you’ll want to pay attention to the underlying reasons behind why you feel that way.

Healthy Habits

When you’re a curvier woman, you might have to work a little harder to maintain optimal health. Always be mindful of your numbers (cholesterol, blood sugar, etc). Exercise consistently to maintain a healthy weight. Eat lots of healthy vegetables. Drink plenty of water. Get the right amount of sleep. See a therapist to take charge of your mental health. When you incorporate these habits into your self-care routine, your confidence will rise because you’re prioritizing your overall health in phenomenal ways.

It’s so important to constantly work on your self-esteem and self-worth. When you know you’re awesome and truly believe it, there’s very little anyone can say to convince you of otherwise. Curvy ladies are just as beautiful and awesome as their thinner counterparts, but it’s all about the confidence and belief system. After all, confidence will make any woman shine bright in a room.
