10 Tips For A Destination Wedding

We are still waiting for our wedding pictures from Italy, but has been given 15 previews - this is one of them and I love it! We had chosen Milos from Funkybird Photography, after I had found him on StyleMePretty and he's just so mega talented.

Early on in the process - in fact, already while we were still in California - we decided that we would go for a romantic get-away wedding in Tuscany with our closest .. We dreamed of relaxing hot days, pool parties, a not too "stiff "wedding dinner, a massive party and time with those we love the most. In the end, it all ended with that surpass our wildest dreams, but a year ago I'd as well, having read such a statement like this - so now you get it. For which starts and ends you do when you dream of a destination wedding?

Decide where you want to go and what dream destination is and go from here to work systematically - I extensively traversed the net and had several locations in the game before we fell headlong into the beautiful old vinborg middle of Tuscany, as it all ended. A great help to me, was StyleMePretty, TheKnot and ArtfullyWed - here you can filter on the destination and there are always listed and vendorguide and thus a location name.

Have already track of who to invite before you're looking for location - it comes to finding something that fits perfectly in size. We knew that we would land about 40 and needed 20 rooms - it is a major factor in the hunt. It may not do any good to find a place that so have either 16 or 37 rooms. It is about to hit!

Think about transportation - we would like to find something that was in max 2 hours distance from an airport with direct connection from Denmark ... And it may sound silly - but consider also just what airlines flying direct ... We are loyal SAS customers and decided to stick to SAS destinations, I can get stress buds of thought of standing with 40 guests in Copenhagen the day before the wedding in Italy and be greeted by a canceled flight. In connection with our wedding was flight punctuality thus a decidedly criteria. Think about it - you are of course never guaranteed, but I slept better at night. Really.

Wedding planner or not? It's been a temperaments issues. I enjoyed myself really a lot, to project management and low + devise ornaments solutions that were transportable in a year up to the wedding .. If you do not feel that way, so hyr a weddingplanner and let them stand for it. I have heard many good things about TrouwenInToscane!

Do your vendor-research - again, using the big American wedding blogs for vendor-research! Here I came across Sonja from Funkybird Weddings that I had good dialogue with - she is somewhat a cross between a weddingplanner and a florist, and her aesthetic is spot on.

Who pays what? We stood for anything but transportation - compared to weddings at home one can soon be invited (eg) wedding in Jutland, requiring both bridge + gasoline + night (s), as people expected even to pay. We knew that the plane tickets could be obtained cheaper than what benchmark and therefore appear that it was reasonable. But here one must probably look at his own family + circle of friends, and what is 'the norm' - it may well vary!

Be prepared, you will have to compromise on some things - for example, table setting and service .. No matter how much I dreamed of a beautiful almost from A Table Story, then it's not really feasible in Tuscany. You win some, you lose some. It will be next time, we must keep the big party!

Low roadmaps - it's really a universal tip that also applies to "ordinary" weddings, but when you're doing a multi-day wedding, then there are just several things that need to applaud. I had made quite detailed roadmaps by the hour showed what would happen and who was responsible. Those I shared with all of our vendors, as well as with bridesmaids + best man, so we were several who had mastered it.

.... Be prepared to deviate from your roadmaps .. Especially in Italy. Hehe;)

And let go - if you have made it big process, made clear agreements with your vendors in writing, made sure to sign contracts (with the photographer, DJ, florist, location etc etc) so that you reach a point where you just have to sit back and believe it. We did - and ultimately ended all our vendors with completely survivors and all played.
