Today I have received a complaint from a model that posted images that are not permitted on this network. I wanted to share the comments with you so that you are aware of the Fashion Industry Network dictatorship...
Last night I saw she posted photos that did not meet our policy. I deleted them and then left her the following message on her comment wall, "Welcome to the Fashion Industry Network. Please be careful to NOT post any nudity on this network. That is NOT permitted. Thank… Continue

I am not sure if this one flew under my radar or I have seen this online retailer in the past and then forgot about them. The truth is, I am very forgetful. Anyway, this evening I was browsing and I came across a new website called Endless
. It turns out that they are owned by Amazon.
According to them,… Continue

Fashion copyright infringement is an interesting topic that I think we should all learn more about. In the fashion industry, so much has already been done. At what point can a company claim that "they did it first". In all honesty, I do not really fully understand the rules. For example, if I create a long sleeve t-shirt and make one sleeve red and the other sleeve black, can I copyright that design. Does that mean no one else can make a long sleeve t-shirt with one sleeve black and one sleeve… Continue

If there is one thing that I have learned during the past year, it is that the world appears to be a never ending supply of fashionistas
. Just when I think we have filled the membership on the fashion industry network, another hundred people come rolling in... I wonder if I should change the system to "invite only" so that we limit the number of members.
My thoughts have always been that for the fashion industry… Continue

Should we develop a fashion industry network t-shirt?
Imagine each year we develop one t-shirt that represents the fashion industry network. Possibly, allow design submissions from members and then we take a vote to determine which shirt design to produce. Actually, I do not really have a voting mechanism on the network (but I am sure we can figure something out).
One problem with this experiment would be that someone would have to front the money to produce the… Continue

During the past year or two we have been hearing a great deal about Green Fashion. Primarily, the discussions have been in reference to environmentally friendly clothing. However, today green fashion takes on an entirely different message. Today, the message is all about… Continue

First let me start right out of the gate and answer this question. The answer is YES, I probably would buy expensive clothing if I could adequately afford to do so...
However, I think that I would have to be filthy rich to the point that I literally did not know what to do with all of my money. In all honesty, I am often amazed by the price point of certain items. For example, I was recently browsing the… Continue

You may have noticed this image with the letters "FIN" all over the network. So let me explain... When a member of the network does not upload a profile image the system will automatically place a default image as the members profile image. At first we had an image that was a silhouette of a head in a light grey color. Then we tried another default image that was a neon green (in my opinion way to neon). So the other day, I decided to add a… Continue

The economic slow down negatively effects the employment rate in every industry under the sun. However, this does not mean that jobs do not exist. This simply means that job opportunities are more sparse. In addition you may find more competition for each available position. However, it is important to understand that if you look hard enough you will learn that fashion jobs are available.
Although the Apparel Search Company is not hiring, Apparel Search does provide a few resources… Continue

In fashion, we often discuss layering. Some times layered looks are in vogue and at other times, it may be out of style. I have a funny suspicion that having four collared shirts layered was never in style.
The image posted here was sent to me as a joke e-mail. It was titled "Coolness... You may be cool.. But you will never be 4 popped-collars cool."
In fairness, I tried to crop out their faces as much as possible... Maybe… Continue

Most of us have seen grey heather, but do we all know that grey heather can never be 100% cotton (well, maybe some day that process will be invented). Anyway, for now, grey heather fabric is used by mixing at least two types of fiber.
I have done some research and compiled the following definition regarding heather:
A mixed fabric color is achieved by using different colors of fiber and mixing them together (a good example is a grey heather t-shirts). Black and white… Continue

Apologizing for an error is always in fashion. Is an apology for something out of ones control also in fashion??? Well, I do not know the answer to this question...
Anyway, I wish to apologize to many of the new members here at the Fashion Industry Network. Although I very much want to welcome each of you individually (and on the day you join the network), I find myself falling WAY behind on this task. At this time I am probably a few… Continue
