For those of you that have been selling clothing to Sam's Club Canada, the show is over. They are closing their six stores.
"Wal-Mart Canada Corp. is closing its small Sam's Club division, which never made it beyond six stores in Ontario, choosing to focus its efforts on the lucrative supercenter format instead."
Note: this has nothing to do with Sam's Club in the USA. They are only closing the "Canada" stores.

OK, this rule has been out there for a while, but the fact is that I just saw it today. The good news, is that I do not manufacture socks, so it does not really matter that I did not know this rule. Anyway, as you know the purpose of the Fashion Industry Network is to "educate" ourselves and others regarding topics relevant to fashion. Therefore, I thought it could not hurt for us to occasionally review some of the laws that effect our industry. So, if you are interested, you are welcome to… Continue

Trying to educate myself regarding the "reactive printing" process.
Actually, I have not had an easy time locating a perfect (easy to understand) definition of the reactive ink process. Today I actually realized that I do not even have a definition in the Apparel Search Glossary. I will have to work on compiling a good definition. Here are two definitions that I have found that I thought may be of some help.

If someone was to ask you what caused the current economic crisis, you will most likely reply with one of the following:
1) Housing Bubble
2) Greed On Wall Street
3) Political Corruption (the government passed the laws opening the door for "greed on Wall Street" to run wild)
4) Over Extended Consumers (Hey, you have no money and no job, here's your mortgage...)
You may be overlooking the true cause of the economic slow down. After many, many, "seconds" of… Continue

: one of the popular methods of coloring textiles whereby the material and the dye liquor are held under steam pressure in a closed jig, kier, or vessel. The plan is to provide a quicker dyeing when temperatures necessary are above the boiling point of 212 degrees Fahrenheit.
The idea behind the Fashion Industry Network is to help educate one another. Therefore, I thought that I would use the blog feature to provide a few definitions regarding… Continue

: comparable to the principles of printing ordinary clothing except that the mechanical operation is different. Warp yarn is printed on a beam and then it is rewound onto a second beam which is placed in the back of the loom and made ready for the weaving operation. Warp prints give a mélange or mottled effect when woven with plain filling, white or in some light color. Rather popular for coverlets, some dress goods, counterpanes, bedspreads, etc.
The idea behind… Continue
