Editor’s Feature: Organizing Your Closet

Ok, so I may not be the neatest person in the world, but when it comes to my closet I am more than a little obsessive compulsive. My clothes are all organized by type (blouses, skirts, pants, etc), then length (sleeveless, short sleeve, long sleeve, etc). While my clothing is pretty well taken care of, there never seems to be enough room for my shoes and handbags to be stored properly. I want a way to organize my handbags so they aren’t laying all over each other and so I can see each one… Continue

June’s Spendthrift: Bag Borrow or Steal

Ok, so North By Northwest is currently obsessed with the Sex and the City movie. Our staff got a private screening the night before it premiered and let me tell you…it was just as fabulous as I knew it would (had to) be! Full of jaw-dropping fashion and style, like only Sex and the City could deliver, there were fabulous Manolo’s that caused constant drool from one of my editors and of course unbelievable handbags that I myself constantly kept wishing for the guts to pull off. Either way, the… Continue

June's Obsession: Gladiator Sandals...Sort of

This month we’ve been dying to get in the game when it comes to one of this season’s hottest trends: gladiator sandals. However, some of us here at NBNW are feeling a bit apprehensive about wearing so many straps, buckles, studs, etc. What if your style is more simple and classic? Can even those ladies pull of so much pizzazz below the ankle? The answer, my J. Crew junkies, is yes! We’ve scowered the net to find some simpler versions of the powerful gladiator sandal with all the Grecian charm… Continue

June's "It" Girl: Hayden Panettiere

Our “It” girl this month is none other than the fabulous Hayden Panettiere. Talk about a girl we can root for: this lady won’t be found in rehab, jail, or table dancing at 4 am, not to mention anything super short, super low-cut, or any other such nonsense. Hayden has a surprisingly sophisticated style for someone so young. At the ripe old age of 18, Hayden has really pioneered the young chic movement. Even when shopping or out to lunch, Miss Panettiere is rarely seen in jeans or t-shirts, but… Continue

Editor's Feature: Nippies

Welcome to the new revolution in pasties ladies: Nippies. Created by a design company known as Bristols6, Nippies are nipple covers that come in a variety of fabrics (from silk to lace) and patterns (hearts, butterflies, stars, etc), and can be used up to 50 times before being replaced. The last time I wore a backless dress, I opted for my usual go-to: band-aids. However, thanks to the clingy silk of my dress, I ended up with a treasure map on each breast: x marks the spot. I discovered Nippies… Continue

Treasure Hunt: Chunky Rings

So, browsing the internet for an interesting "Treasure Hunt" item, I found myself wandering back to to look at their hand-made, one-of-a-kind jewelry. I found a seller who stole my heart, considerng I have a serious weakness for chunky rings. I saw this ring (top pic) called "Crowned in Copper" made of river rock, set in a sterling silver accented with a band of braided copper. I kept thinking how pretty tis peachy color would look against summery tanned skin. As I explored further, I… Continue

Spendthrift: Ombre Wrap/Scarf

This month's Spendthrift is both pretty and versatile: a sheer ombre wrap from Cold Water Creek. Take this to the movies as a wrap to snuggle under or to the office to add a little pizazz (and warmth) to your blouse and slacks. The beauty of this wrap is that it's sheer, so it's thin enough to tie around your neck as a scarf or even use it to tie back your hair. The subtle ombre fading of a tender green into a lovely cream really provides that "go with anything and everything you own" vibe:… Continue

Believing in the power of classic chic, Gwyneth has never tried to be anything but what she is: sophisticated and timeless. However, that doesn't mean the lady doesn't take a chance every once and awhile! They key to letting your style match your personality is just that...let it. If you want to try something new, try it! Treasure Hunt: Hot Pink Kitten Heels

Since your computer currently has your attention, open a new tab and head to While searching for some colorful vintage treasure for this month's issue, I decided to take a chance and check out eBay's vintage offerings. April's Obsession: Color

Since this issue is kicking off our personal style campaign, we've been talking non-stop about different ways to express your individuality through your clothes and taking chances with your style, one particular element that seemed to be the easiest way to start was color! When you're just starting out, it can be hard to determine which colors are right for. Questions like "does this compliment my skin tone" or "do I have anything that could actually go with this" are common and important to… Continue

Spendthrift: Sunglasses

One of the simplest ways to show off your personal style is through one of the most common accessories: sunglasses. In truth, your sunglasses say a lot about you. Aviators can say "I'm tough, don't mess with me" or even "I'm just that incredibly cool"; it all depends on who your attitude! So try the theory out: get a few pairs of cheap, statement sunglasses, like these $12 Jackie O shades from Urban Boundaries, which come in 6 different colors,… Continue

Treasure Hunt: Elegant Sunshine

Though I am from Georgia, we are currently experiencing a bit of cold, nasty weather: you know, drab cloudy skys, sharp icy wind... needless to say, these are the days when all I want to do is curl up in my bed and watch "Breakfast at Tiffany's" for the millionth time. But since I have to leave the house, a cozy chunky sweater, my favorite pair of skinny jeans, a well-worn ballet flat, and these gorgeous citrine chandelier earrings from La Bella… Continue

Spendthrift: Ballet Flats

This month I am working on cleaning up my shoe collection and ballet flats are my number one priority. Now, like many women who are on their feet all day long, I live in my flats, but comfort is not the only criteria. I'm looking for something versatile but unique, stylish but timeless, both sassy and sweet, I want...well, what can I say? I want it all! And 'all' includes affordable, which is easier said then done these days; it's hard to find a… Continue

March's "It" Girl

This month's "It" girl is the poster child for understated chic: Keri Russell. Trends may come and go, but Keri stays true to the basics: solid colors and classic shapes that always look crisp and put together. With tumbled hair and minimal makeup, Keri's style always looks effortless and easy without being messy. Concentrating on well-fitted garments that have subtle structural details and favoring deep saturated colors are the key elements to… Continue
