MAROOKA CLUTCHES...
Are made out caiman (caiman crocodilus) from the Lake Nicaragua and the San Juan del Sur River. The caiman is harvested and picked by the natives of that region, actually making the caiman business one that is essential to the every day life and survival of the locals in that region.

Marooka clutches are made entirely by hand by a family of artisans from a remote place in Nicaragua. This family of artisans has been in the business of croc leather and snakes for more than six generations. The head of the organization is a woman. She is the one who stitches one by one, the designs of the creator of marooka.

Martha Solorzano is the designer of marooka clutches. She is an actress, photographer, producer, and now the creator of marooka clutches. Each marooka is different form the other. Martha (pronounced Marta), picks the most unusual Austrian crystals, feathers, velvet, antique pieces precious and semi precious stones set on silver she can find in the most random of all places and beautifully arranges and attaches each piece, mounting it on top of another great piece creating a beautiful collage of a broach.
