I am currently a part-time student of Baltimore City Community College with a major in Fashion Design. My lifelong dream has been to be a small business owner in the apparel industry. However, since my initial enrollment in the Fashion program at BCCC, I have curved those ambitions somewhat. Initially, I wanted to develop my own maternity wear line (That could still be something that I would do in the distant future.) However, right now I would rather focus my efforts on becoming a service contractor. Personally, I feel that there are a lot of budding designers with cool ideas and trendy fashions, but, what they lack is opportunity to make their design concepts a functioning reality. Why? Because either they don't have access to the capital that is required by the industry today or they're not plugged into the proper connections. Consequently, I am of the opinion that the barriers created for the small designer has formed a hole in the market that I could possibly serve. Which leads me to where I am now; I'm trying to develop my niche through education and hands on experience.
