- I am interested to know more about fashion design, particular accessary design as well as the whole industry. But I have zero experience in the field. I am from China and just got America more than a month ago. I came to New York for learning and opportunities. And I want to know more people here. Now I am taking a one year program about contemporary American business management in Baruch College, CUNY. I hope to learn from people in the group about fashion to get a start. You should get yourself a sketch pad, (start off with newsprint. it's cheap) some pencils, charcoals, erasers. a sharpener.. markers etc....keep in mind we all have grown to use certain brands that we have become found of... I myself perfer macro pens From piont of .005 to 8( these however are not cheap) and the muti side sharpie. You can find much of the art supplies you need at either an acmoore, or micheals. The larger art stores such as pearl will of course have a much better slection... The main purpose of this class is that many off us have been using computers more, then the gift of free hand drawing, so our wraist's have become a bit thight. It will also give you a better perspective on the way a garment falls on the body.You will see the different ways, it draps and falls and allow for the cast of shadows. I do hope I have answered some of your questions. There's no need to be a pro, have faith, enjoy what you do and the rest will follow..:).....Cynthia
