Growing up in Dallas, Texas, Wendi became aware at a young age that the three main pastimes of Dallasites are "Eat... Drink... Shop." A fashion fanatic was born when she began painstakingly hand-selecting her own Garanimals at age 3 in the 70's.

"By the time I was a teenage cheerleader, all I knew for sure about a career path was that I wanted to work with people and that I couldn't live without glamour," says Wendi. "I fondly remember that my grandmother wouldn't leave the house without her gloves, hat and red lipstick. Mama Ruth's penchant for style and grace is alive in me with an artistic twist."

Wendi first picked up a palette knife at age 39 at an "art party" event. The feeling of the paint on the canvas was a freedom of artistic expression that her Type A personality had never experienced before. With the creation of that first piece, "Peacock Field," the idea of turning a painting into a purse and marrying fashion with art emerged. bolarti is the result of Wendi's desire to create useful, beautiful things with individualistic flair.
