Glad to find a like-minded group. My website is under construction. I can't wait for it to be finished. This bead "thing" is an addiction. There are never enough new beads to buy. I use natural stone, beautiful Czech glass, sterling…

About Me ...
I design and make jewelry-both collection and custom. I generally only make one of a kind. No mass production. I use quality materials such as natural stones and sterling and Swarovski crystal, gold-filled and copper plus lovely Czech glass and shells. I love the unusual and different. I started about three years ago into this new venture and enjoy creating. Many years ago, the creative urge took over and I made a line of products using high quality terry cloth. My business name at that time was Terries by Rita. The mainstay item was an apron with numerous peripherals created along the way. I still use my aprons which are about 25 years old now. The sugar plums dancing in my head at night are the different stones and metals and crystals and glass. I make necklaces, bracelets and earrings and am now going to venture into brooches.
Fashion Industry Experience
As a child, I made dresses for my dolls and curtains from pieces of fabric pinned to my shoebox dollhouse. As a teen, I doodled clothing designs in my school notebook . I created the kind of apron and peripherals that I wanted. I love practical function as well as beauty. For instance, my three large pockets across the front of the apron served me well for cooking, gardening and picking up kids' toys. I think I can do that with some jewelry ideas, too. When I worked with terry cloth, I didn't get to bring all of my ideas to fruition because I had to go work in my husband's office and drop the terry business. I still have my patterns, though, and maybe some day I'll go back to it.
