- Novelette is a Graduate of the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts Institute of Fashion in 2000 with a BA (Hons) degree in Design Technology for the Fashion Industry. She completed a Certificate in Digital Origination at the London College of Communication in 2004.
Born in Jamaica, from an early age she started to have an interest in dressmaking and was sent as an apprentice to learn dressmaking skills. The Novelette Novalis Company was created in 2006, and is scheduled to initiate the launch of the 'Novelette Ellis' label.
- Fashion Industry Experience
- Novelette has been in the Fashion Industry for over 20 years. Besides her work as a designer Novelette is also a highly skillful sample machinist, and is responsible for the design, final patterns and making up of her toile (or muslin), and sample garments. In recent years most of her practice has been freelance sample making on a regular basis for well established fashion companies in-house and at her own studio.
